Microsoft Video 1

The Microsoft Video-1 codec is a rather simple algorithm, especially when compared to modern video compression methods. The algorithm operates on 4x4 blocks of pixels, which implies that the source data to be compressed must be divisible by 4 in both its width and height. Just like decoding a Microsoft [[ext:BMP]] image, decoding a frame of Video-1 data is a bottom-to-top operation.
