H263 - Video coding for efficient communication over low date

H.263 software Video Codec for low bit-rate communication supports five different video resolutions.

H.263 supports Sub-QCIF (SQCIF), 4CIF, and 16CIF in addition to QCIF and CIF that are supported by H.261. As a result, the codec could potentially compete with other higher bit-rate video coding standards such as the Motion Picture Experts Group (MPEG) standards for encoding high-resolution images.
